FAQs

+ I’ve never done yoga before, is that ok?

It is! I’ll be there to guide you - no yoga experience necessary.

+ What equipment do I need to bring?

You'll need a yoga or exercise mat and wear comfy clothing you can move in. It can also be nice to have a blanket or cosy jumper for the end of class, as the body temperature naturally drops when we settle and stop moving.

I may have some yoga mats and props available but these are on a first come, first served basis so you may like to bring your own.

+ In what way are you Covid conscious?

All of my classes have plenty of space and maintain 2m social distancing when you're on your mat. I'll follow all Government Guidelines when they're updated. I encourage all students to wear a mask except when they're on their yoga mats. There is antibacterial spray to use on the kit after you borrow it

+ I have an injury or illness or disability, can I still join in?

This depends on your injury or illness - feel free to send me an email and I'll gladly give you specific advice so we can work out what would be best for you.

+ What are the benefits of yoga?

  • Improving mobility and strength
  • Improving balance and flexibility
  • Take time out for you
  • Supporting other fitness practices
  • Reducing the effects of stress & anxiety
  • Helping with sleep problems and disorders
  • Protecting you from injuries
  • Supporting injury rehabilitation
  • Easing back pain
  • Boosting your immunity
  • Improving focus and concentration
  • Soothing IBS and other digestive problems

The body is a wonderful, complex organism and different practices have different effects on the body. For example, forward folds and standing poses can be calming, backbends can be energising; twists can support a healthy digestive system and breathing practices (pranayama) can reduce anxiety.

+ Do I have to take off my socks?

Your feet are less likely to slip or slide around if you are in bare feet - but if you don’t feel comfortable taking off your socks, that’s absolutely fine.

+ Do I need to be fit, flexible and strong to practice yoga?

You don’t need to be able to touch your toes or ‘be flexible’ to do yoga. I make sure my classes are accessible for all levels.

+ Do I need special clothes to practice yoga?

Wear something you feel comfortable and can move in. Most people like wearing leggings/shorts that you can move in, and a top which is fitted enough so that it doesn't fall over your head if you folded forward.

+ Is yoga just for young, thin, bendy people?

No way! Yoga is for every, single, unique body: regardless of age, size, gender or fitness level.

+ How do I book and pay for a class?

The easiest way to do this is online. But you can also book by email or phone. We also accept payment by card (payment via website), cash and bank transfer (please ask for details).

+ Do I have too book in advanced or can I just turn up?

Please book in advance. We can’t guarantee you a place if you just turn up as spaces are limited and some classes are full.

+ What is the cancellation policy?

You may cancel any booking for a retreat or workshop (an ‘Event’) so long as you do so at least 30 days before the start of the Event, in which case we will refund you the amount you have paid for that Event, less an administration fee of £20. If you cancel within 30 days there will be no refund unless we are able to transfer your booking to another participant, in which case we will refund you as explained above, less an administration fee of £20.

Once a yoga course has started we cannot issue a refund if you choose to cancel, decide not to attend or drop out for any reason.

For 1:1 lessons we require 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel a booking, or you may be liable for the cost of the class.

Lissa Milton Yoga reserves the right to cancel an Event for any reason, though we will endeavour to do so only in exceptional circumstances or if there are insufficient numbers booked onto a course for it to be commercially viable. Should this happen we will notify you promptly and refund you in full the amount you have paid us for the Event.
